After Le Mans EWC promise, Team Aviobike by M2 Revo eyes a Spa break
Team Aviobike by M2 Revo will use the upcoming 8 Hours of Spa Motos to build on the potential it demonstrated during the FIM Endurance World Championship season-opening 24 Heures Motos at Le Mans last month with its all-new Aprilia RSV4.After a promising start, the Italian alliance was hit by misfortune with lengthy pitstops required to replace the clutch and chain on the #111 entry.But riders Luca Bernardi, Kevin Calia, Samuele Cavalieri and Francesco Cocco didn’t give up and put Team Aviobike by M2 Revo on course to finish a fine fourth among the Dunlop-supplied Superstock category contenders.

Injured home ace Lambrechts misses out as JMA names its Spa EWC trio
JMA Racing Action Bike has revealed its three riders for the 8 Hours of Spa Motos, Belgium’s round of the FIM Endurance World Championship next month.Frenchman Charles Cortot, Italian Matteo Giacomazzo and Dutch rider Milan Merckelbagh, will compete on the team’s #34 Suzuki in the Dunlop-supplied Superstock category, which counts for the FIM Endurance World Cup.The return of Giacomazzo is notable after an injury to his right hand prevented him from competing in the EWC season-opening 24 Heures Motos last month, leading to Julien Lenoci being called up as his replacement. Having suffered a broken collarbone and crushed finger when he fell during the 24 Heures Motos, Belgian rider Bram Lambrechts isn’t included in JMA’s Spa line-up, and could miss out on competing in his home round of the EWC while he continues his recovery from injury.A Facebook post from JMA Racing Action Bike read: “We will be ready to defend our place in the top 10 of Superstock. A big thank you to Suzuki Moto France and Action Bike as well as all our partners who allow us to continue the adventure. One month after the 24 Heures Motos we are in full preparation for the 8 Hours of Spa Motos.”Under FIM EWC regulations, Formula EWC and Superstock can enter three riders only for eight-hour races. There is no possibility to nominate a reserve rider or enter a fourth race rider, which Superstock teams are allowed to do for 24-hour races. Only in the event of force majeure can a team seek permission from the FIM International Jury to make a change to its rider line-up.The 8 Hours of Spa Motos takes place from 6-8 June. EWC Take Five with Randy Krummenacher
With an FIM Supersport World Championship title under his belt, Randy Krummenacher has achieved plenty of success in his career. But with only two starts in the FIM Endurance World Championship to his name, the Tati Team Beringer Racing rider’s EWC tenure is very much in its infancy, while Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, venue of round two of the 2024 season from 6-8 June, represents unchartered territory for the 34-year-old from Switzerland.

Super-sub Vietti-Ramus open to extra EWC action despite Le Mans drama
Doriano Vietti-Ramus would be open to more FIM Endurance World Championship action despite the “crazy” weather he experienced during the Le Mans season opener last month – and a dramatic final 45 minutes to the 24 Heures Motos.Vietti-Ramus received a late call to join 3ART Best of Bike in place of the injured Alex Plancassagne and partnered new team-mates Christopher Kemmer, Guillaume Pot and Maiku Watanuki to the final place on the Superstock podium in 11th overall.With no previous experience of the EWC or Circuit Bugatti, Italian rider Vietti-Ramus took the running start in 28th position but dropped back to 46th overall before the fightback began. However, with 45 minutes of the race remaining, Watanuki fell at the final corner. Although the Japanese rider was given the all-clear following medical checks, the #36 Dunlop-equipped Yamaha was brought back to the pitlane having sustained significant damage. But such was the team’s advantage in third place that repairs were made in time for the squad to get back on track with a 52-second gap to the next FIM Endurance World Cup-registered outfit and secure third place.

Pérez keen on more EWC opportunities after finishing world’s “toughest race”
Mika Pérez doesn’t want his FIM Endurance World Championship ride with Team Players to be a one-off, despite admitting he needed a “minimum week off” after he helped the Kawasaki-powered squad to the finish of the 24 Heures Motos.Pérez joined Nelson Major and Adrien Rollet, plus Ludovic Hauser, a late replacement for Paul Jordan, in the Le Mans EWC season-opener last month, finishing 26th overall and 15th in the Dunlop-supplied Superstock category.“It was an unforgettable experience to be able to finish the toughest race in the world,” 24-year-old Spaniard Pérez said. “We have had a great pace throughout the race, a shame my fall due to a brake problem and another from my team-mate. But I want to thank the team for their amazing job and my team-mates who gave it their all. I had fun so I'll give it my all for new opportunities to come in the future. I will need a minimum week off.”Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps hosts round two of the 2024 EWC season, the 8 Hours of Spa Motos, from 6-8 June.

Wójcik revved up for Spa after Le Mans EWC heroics
Wójcik Racing Team will start the inaugural 8 Hours of Spa Motos in Belgium next month determined to build on its promising start to life as a Honda-powered outfit in the FIM Endurance World Championship.The Polish squad has switched from Yamaha to Honda motorcycles for 2024 and claimed a top 10 Formula EWC category finish in the 24 Heures Motos at Le Mans last month with Bálint Kovács, Kamil Krzemień and Jurand Kuśmierczyk. As Team Manager and Wójcik Racing Team co-owner Sławomir Kubzdyl explained, the result represented a significant achievement due to a shortage of preparation time. “This is a great success for us because only two and a half months ago we switched to completely new motorcycles,” he said.Kubzdyl continued: “It's incredible. A little over two months ago, we did not know at all if we would be able to set the start and prepare everything in time, and today we are at the finish line of the toughest race in the world, after covering over 3000 kilometres without problems. While the #77 team fought for a place in the top 10 of the EWC class, the #777 team fought for the top of the Superstock class. This is a very good announcement of the rest of the season and a dream start of our co-operation with Honda.”Team founder and co-owner Grzegorz Wójcik said: “We wrote a piece of history this weekend. We had a huge challenge ahead of us, but the whole team worked perfectly not only this weekend, but also in the past months, finally accomplishing the impossible. I would like to thank all the mechanics, staff members, partners and riders of the Wójcik Racing Team family for this.”While the #77 Wójcik line-up reached the finish at Le Mans, the #777 crew, featuring Kevin Manfredi, Sheridan Morais, Danny Webb and the returning Gino Rea, were less fortunate. Fifth fastest out of the FIM Endurance World Cup contenders in qualifying, damage inflicted from three crashes forced the team to retire in the closing stages of the race.
