EWC rookie Raffin relishes “hardest race”
Jesko Raffin described last month’s 24 Heures Motos at Le Mans as the “hardest race I have ever done” after he helped Chromeburner-RAC41-Honda to second place in the Superstock-based FIM Endurance World Cup.The Swiss EWC rookie partnered Chris Leesch, Martin Renaudin and Wayne Tessels to the runner-up spot in the Dunlop-supplied category after an impressive performance. “P2 at Le Mans feels unreal but impossible without an amazing team and team-mates,” said Raffin. “It was the most crazy race for me. It’s the first 24-hour race and I have to say it was hard but I had a great support from the team and other riders. They made it much easier and, in the end, I enjoyed a lot. “Being on the podium is the bigger highlight and thanks to everyone who supported me. Now with the second we have and we have to look forward and be even faster.” Raffin continued: “We had some small technical issues in the beginning but we were able to fix it and rejoin the race. From there on we had a great rhythm to fight for some positions but it was the hardest race I have ever done.”Photo: Jesko Raffin
